CoCo is a series of fun resources aimed at teaching children (3-6 years of age) languages: French, English, Polish, German, Spanish and even Chinese are all switchable in this exciting teaching tool, so that the learner has access to a wide range of languages whilst also having fun.
The resource is an ideal teaching tool as all the words are pronounced by natural speakers in each language. The teacher acts as a facilitator and does not need to speak all the languages themselves.
Children who learn a foreign language in early childhood demonstrate many cognitive advantages over children who do not. Bilingual students learn that an object remains the same, even though the object has a different name in another language. For example, a foot remains a foot and performs the function of a foot, whether it is labeled a foot in English or un pied in French.
Language learning is actually a cognitive problem solving activity. Studies have shown repeatedly that foreign language learning increases critical thinking skills, creativity, and flexibility of mind in young children.
